Our group of 8 people from NW Arkansas offer our medical skills to the devastated people of Haiti. The 7.0 earthquake in Haiti on 1/12/2010 killed over 150,000 people, made one million homeless, and affected three million Haitians. Steve, Jim, Paul, Maureen, Edie, Chad, Jeff, and Angie depart NW Arkansas on 2/5/2010 for a weeklong medical ministry on the outskirts of ravaged Port-au-Prince. Join us in our experience as we touch hurting people with medical care and the love of Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, I pray for Alberta. Open her heart that she might receive the witness of the team and the Holy Spirit. Drawer her to Jesus. Give her the faith to believe and the courage to confess Jesus as her Lord. Father, guide the team to know just the right things to say to her. Make Yourself very evident in the words that they use to communicate with her. Give the team boldness tempered with compassion. Give them courage managed by meekness. Father, help the team to know that the power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in them. Father, do what you love to do: heal the sick, free those in bondage, save the lost, transform lives, and help the people of Haiti to know that You alone are God and that there is no one else like You. Jesus said that You would do whatever we asked if we asked in His name. Holy Father, we ask these things in the precious name of Jesus, Your Son. Amen.
ReplyDelete13 Shout for joy, O heavens;
ReplyDeleterejoice, O earth;
burst into song, O mountains!
For the LORD comforts his people
and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.
14 But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me,
the Lord has forgotten me."
15 "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
Though she may forget,
I will not forget you!
Isaiah 49:13-15
This was part of my bible study today, and today I'm praying for you, Alberta. To understand that God loves you so deeply that we can't fathom it, and to realize that out of His love, He sent His Son. God has not forgotten you, God sees every tear you cry, and God wants desperately for you to seek Him and to love Him in return. He sent you His love in flesh, Jesus. Ask one of the team members to show you how often the compassion of Jesus is mentioned. You can hardly turn a page in Matthew without reading about the love and compassion that God shows us through His Son. The team members would not be there to help you, if not for their love for Jesus. Ask them to tell you why. "What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear..." May God show Himself to you plainly, Alberta. Love, Melissa
